The clean, turquoise water in the Gulf is very warm and comfortable to swim in and the rolling waves along the beach are gentle. A perfect combination of climate, salt water, and quartz sand is why Sarasota is loved by so many. Wrapped with 35 miles of silken beachfront, Sarasota and Her Islands is a package of rich cultural history, sun-drenched islands, natural treasures and unlimited discoveries.

Sarasota is located on the southwestern coast of the state of Florida. Its current official limits include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

Sarasota's vibrant recreational and cultural scene offers activities for every taste and budget. There are more than 150 parks and recreational sites encompassing 4,000-plus acres, miles of beaches, and unique environmental resources throughout Sarasota County

There are more than a dozen theaters, 30 art galleries and several active artist communities. Sarasota is also a circus town. John Ringling, of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, made Sarasota his winter home.

Sarasota is in the center of some of the best fishing in the world. From offshore sport fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, to the bays, flats and Intracoastal waterway, there are plenty of fishing charters to take you there. It is not uncommon in the waters of Sarasota to witness bottlenose dolphins, manatees, pelicans, and a variety of interesting fish species.

Tamiami Trail (US-41) was officially designated as a Florida Scenic and Heritage Highway by the State of Florida. The designation incorporates a corridor of (69.7 miles) from the north Manatee to the south Sarasota County lines. There are many areas of archaeological importance along the Trail as well as natural wonders, historical & architectural sites which represent our area's rich culture & heritage.

Sarasota has some of the finest sparkling white sand beaches in the world and awesome, colorful sunsets over the water. The clean air and sunny climate have made it world famous as a center snowbirds.
